- Collaborate with the Engineering team, Product Manager, Marketing Team, and Product Support Team to guide the next-generation product roadmap.
- Work closely with Electrical, Mechanical, and Process Engineering teams from concept through production to optimize performance, quality, cost, and products related to instrumentation and control of fluid measurement systems.
- Define system architecture, hardware and software specifications, schedules, cost estimates, test strategies, and design prototypes, schematics, and printed circuit boards aligned with business objectives focused on fluid measurement and monitoring.
- Apply electrical engineering principles and analysis tools to design and implement hardware and software for flow metering products.
- Design ultra-low power microcontroller-based digital systems, low noise/high gain analog circuits, LCD interfaces, sensor interface circuits, and wireless communication for IoT compatibility.
- Develop low-level firmware drivers and higher-level application code in C/C++.
- Participate in hardware and software design reviews and product validation to improve design confidence and reduce cycle time.
- Use measurement theory, statistics, and spreadsheets to analyze prototype performance and implement linear and non-linear measurement corrections in firmware.
- Coordinate with lab personnel to perform performance and optimization analysis on prototypes and ensure 100% feature verification testing across all product configurations.
- Support regression testing of new software releases and bug fixes.
- Troubleshoot circuit design or firmware issues during development and production transition.
- Collaborate with production process engineers to create calibration, configuration, and functional test standards.
- Support the development of test fixtures by writing design requirements for use by Quality Assurance and contract manufacturers.
- Work with Operations and Process Engineering to ensure effective manufacturing assembly and support changes affecting production.
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of electrical design experience including schematic capture and PCB layout.
- Proficient with standard electronics lab equipment: Power Supplies, DVM, Oscilloscope, and Logic Analyzer.
- Strong background in firmware code development and debugging using In-Circuit Emulators.
- Proficiency in MS Office products, especially Excel.
- Team-oriented with a strong understanding of team dynamics and a commitment to fostering collaboration.
- Self-motivated and driven, with a strong work ethic and the ability to meet expectations and product schedules independently.
- Excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
- Willingness to mentor junior engineers in hardware and software design techniques to elevate the entire flow meter engineering team.
- Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Working knowledge of Turbine, Oval Gear, Vortex Shedding, Piston, Electromagnetic, Ultrasonic, and/or Coriolis flow meters.
- Experience with synchronous reluctance DC-brushless motor control design and control algorithms.
- Understanding of fluid dynamics, volumetric totalization, and flow rate measurement techniques.
- Familiarity with antenna theory and ultrasonic transducer design theory.
- Experience writing embedded firmware for microcontrollers in C/C++.
- Knowledge of programming Digital Signal Processors and/or FPGAs, especially for signal cross-correlation.
- Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium Designer.
- Experience with high-current PCB designs (40+ Amps).
- Familiarity with UL, IECEX, ATEX, and NSF compliance standards.
- Experience with 3rd-party compliance testing (FCC) and debugging EMI/EMC issues at certified test labs.
- Understanding of IoT theory and product design integration.
