Mechanical Design Engineer
Job Description

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will design, develop, and revise components or systems to meet performance, quality, cost, and delivery expectations. This role involves general design work for entire machines and specialized design of components, systems, and attachments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop drawings, design parts, specify components, route systems (hydraulic/electrical), and create assemblies utilizing 3D CAD and ISO Standards.
  • Communicate effectively through clear and concise memos, including drafts of technical documents such as Parts and Service News, Operation Manuals, and Shop Manuals.
  • Discuss, negotiate, and resolve specification issues with Manufacturing and Suppliers during prototype development and pre-series production.
  • Conduct Design Reviews to meet quality, cost, and delivery targets established for the project.
  • Maintain effective engineering change control by preparing and processing Engineering Release Letters.
  • Interface with other groups and suppliers for the exchange of technical information and policies.
  • Support production, service, and QA departments by resolving problems and determining root causes with effective documentation.
  • Recognize and document new technology and submit for possible patent application.
  • Travel to machine worksites for surveys, problem investigations, and customer interactions, both domestically and internationally.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in engineering principles including structural mechanics, hydraulics, heat transfer, electricity, and ergonomics.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software applications such as Pro Engineer Wildfire 2.0 or 4.0.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering standards in drawing practice, dimensioning, and tolerancing.
  • Experience with software applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • BS Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or equivalent) with approximately 35 years of experience.
  • Associates degree may be acceptable with sufficient experience and accomplishments.
  • Experience with Windchill and new product development is a plus.
Work Environment

The work environment includes travel to machine worksites for surveys and investigations. The role involves working with advanced technologies and requires knowledge of ISO and SAE standards. The use of software tools like GDMS, SAP, and Windchill is integrated into daily tasks.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $45.00/hr.
