Purpose

This position operates medium equipment for the assigned department.

Essential Job Functions

• Maintains assigned equipment; completes minor repairs; washes and greases equipment.

• Inspects equipment before use.

• Transports equipment to job sites.

• Ensures that work sites are compliant with safety guidelines.Informssurroundingresidentsofworkinprogress.

• Operates jackhammer, backhoe, excavator, and hand tools to excavate water lines.

• Operate the stepping machine.

• Digs trenches.

• Measures and cuts stubbing and wire.

• Excavates and cleans meter boxes.

• Repairs the line and main breaks.

• Assists in the installation, repair, and maintenance of fire hydrants

• Operates backhoe.

• Transports equipment to job sites.

• Maintains, inspects, and operates various hand and power tools and small equipment.

• Sets up traffic control devices around work sites.

• Loads construction debris onto trucks.

• Moves dirt, gravel, rock, sand, and other heavy materials.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED equivalent; with two (2) years of medium equipment operation and maintenance experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.

Additional Requirements

Background investigation, including supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen, and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment.
