We're looking for an experienced and motivated Estimator to join our growing civil site development and utility right-of-way (ROW) team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, field-integrated environment and brings a deep understanding of earthwork, utility installation, site prep, and forestry-related scopes. You'll play a critical role in building accurate, competitive bids that set our field teams up for success from day one. We specialize in turnkey, horizontal heavy civil work. You will create full-scope bids for sitework, line access, utility ROW, storm, grading, asphalt, curb, base, trucking and forestry-related clearing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed estimates and proposals for civil site development, utility ROW clearing, grading, stormwater, and erosion control scopes
- Perform quantity takeoffs using digital modeling, PDFs, and engineered plans
- Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes for inclusion in bids
- Build bid day cost sheets, risk logs, and pre-bid schedules
- Coordinate closely with operations and field leadership to align production assumptions with real-world conditions
- Generate cost comparisons and value engineering options based on site conditions
- Maintain and update pricing based on historical performance, vendor input, and market trends
- Support pre-bid site visits and proposal presentations as needed
- Assist in scheduling and sequencing development phases, access road, utility tie-ins, and environmental work
- Be capable of estimating what is on the plan and mitigating risk
- Review plans, specs, and geotech reports for production alignment
Must-Have Qualifications:
- Experience estimating civil site development, ROW clearing, or utility infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of site grading, stormwater systems, utility trenching, and forestry/mulching scopes
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Office 365 tools
- Technologically savvy, with the ability to quickly learn and leverage new construction software
- Hands-on field or equipment experience (you know your cuts from your fills)
Preferred Experience:
- Familiarity with Bid2Win, Trimble Business Center (TBC), and other takeoff/modeling platforms
- Experience with PDF markup tools
- Previous field or project management experience is a plus
- Experience coordinating with DOT, Survey, and utility companies
- Background in forestry operations, land clearing, or environmental compliance
