Production Superintendent

Atlas Roof Shingles & Underlayments is seeking a Production Superintendent for the Meridian, MS facility.

Production Superintendent Primary Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate all activities concerned with the operation and maintenance of multiple production units, while maximizing equipment / machine and manpower capabilities.
• Plans, directs and schedules the personnel and operations in the Roofing Mill for both the shingle line and saturator felt line.
• Responsible for managing production schedules, conformance to quality standards and customer specifications as well as the proper operation of all machinery.
• Responsible for exceeding production standards and forging an atmosphere of continuous improvement through the utilization of identifiable metrics and the implementation and use of lean manufacturing and other tools / techniques to decrease process variability.
• Responsible for the direct supervision of multiple Production Supervisors and indirect supervision of approximately eighty (80) hourly plant employees
• Establish and coordinate production priorities for products while ensuring effective and efficient operating planning and controlling cost factors.
• Coordinate production activities with other departments to obtain optimum quality production and utilization of manpower and equipment.
• Develop, implement and continuously updates methods and standard operating procedures to eliminate non-conformance and improve safety, quality and productivity.
• Directly responsible to ensure all environmental and safety policies and procedures are properly performed and enforced. Works to improve operations to maintain compliance with proactive planning in regards to environmental impact.
• Indirectly responsible for labor relations in regards to plant rules, grievance resolution, employee counseling and employee disputes.
• Actively participate on plant Safety Committee and Labor/Management Relations Committee.
• Ensure the training and development of supervisory and union employees in proper work methods to assume safety, quality and housekeeping.
• Actively works with engineering and maintenance on capital and preventative maintenance for plant and equipment.

• Occasional travel to customers, vendors and other Atlas facilities as required

Production Superintendent Experience

• Minimum five (5) years experience managing in a continuous manufacturing environment

Production Superintendent Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Organization - Must have sound organizational skills.
• Communication - Ability to provide relevant and timely information in a clear manner both verbally and in writing.
• Follow Through Fulfills the requirements of the position as described. Follow-through on completion of assigned tasks in a timely manner. Anticipates what needs to be done and proceeds without direction in a timely manner
• Problem Solving Ability to think through issues and develop solutions in a timely manner. Sound troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
• Language -Must be able to speak fluent English.
• Mathematical abilities - advanced arithmetic, statistics and algebra.
• Advanced reasoning ability - Ability to read and interpret policies and procedures. Ability to present information and respond to questions from employees and all levels of management.
• Competent with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Internet, email and MRP / ERP systems.
• Must possess an exemplary attention to detail.
• Excellent time management skills

Production Superintendent Education, Licenses & Certifications

• Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related field of study or equivalent job related experience.
