The Department of Design and Construction is hiring a Engineering Technician I to performs routine, elementary and manual work involved in engineering field surveying.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Learning and training to perform the duties of a rod person by holding a level rod, stadia rod or prism pole.
Learning and training to perform the duties of a rear chain person by cutting and clearing growth and other obstacles from transit lines,
Locating boundary corners and taking topography and contours.
Performing other duties and responsibilities of the position.
Engineering Technician I (SR-07) may progress up the career ladder to an Engineering Technician V (SR-19). However, the Engineering Technician series DOES NOT PROGRESS TO THE PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER SERIES, such as Civil Engineer I-V, Electrical Engineer I-V, or Mechanical Engineer I-V.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
Equivalent to graduation from high school with courses in mathematics.
(Desirable Coursework: ALGEBRA, GEOMETRY, & TRIGONOMETRY)
LICENSE REQUIREMENT:
Possession of an appropriate valid Hawaii State driver's license, as required.
(The current vacancy requires a driver's license (Type 3), prior to appointment.)
