Lead Building Engineer
CONTRACT-TO-HIRE
Pay Range: $70,000 - $75,000
Location: Atlanta, GA (Buckhead)
Candidate must have Office Commercial Real Estate experience, NO EXCEPTIONS
The Lead Engineer is responsible for continuous peak performance of building operations. The Lead Engineer leads a small team of engineers who deliver service to tenants, maintain systems and equipment, oversee contract services, and support the work of other departments.
This position is distinguished from the job of Chief Engineer by its scale of supervision. The Lead Engineer typically oversees the work of fewer than four maintenance and engineering employees.
Experience and Proficiencies
- At least 1 year's experience in a supervisory or leadership position, or a history of assuming leadership when assigned team projects, helping and teaching others, and accepting responsibilities for results.
- At least five years' experience in the maintenance of a commercial property or facility, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the attributes necessary to successfully perform the Lead Engineer job. Equivalent union training and certification is also acceptable.
- Knowledgeable in the safe and proper use of ladders, lifts, hand tools, multi-meter amp probe, anemometer (airflow meter and hood), pressure gauges, drain auger, safety goggles, ear protection, and fire extinguisher.
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. Experience in the operation of chillers, generators, switchgear, pumps, and air handling units preferred.
- Advanced-level knowledge in fire and life safety systems.
- Proficiency in use of computer applications, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Education
- A high school diploma or GED.
- A degree from an accredited trade school in HVAC, electronics, or other industry-related trade is advantageous. Completion of trade-related technical training in the US Armed Forces is equivalent to a trade school degree.
Credentials and Designations
- A universal CFC license is required.
- The BOMA SMA/SMT or N.A.P.E. designation is preferred.
