BRIEF DESCRIPTION:

The purpose of this position is to monitor landfill use, bill and collect for fees, assist in maintaining landfill capacity, recording refuse and organic weights, screen vehicles for authorized use and enforcing codes and ordinances. This is accomplished by collecting and recording use data, directing customers, screening materials, picking up and removing bulky metal objects and other discards, accepting payments, issuing receipts, screening loads and determining whether waste is refuse or organic. Other duties include maintaining the building and grounds, controlling litter, depositing funds, maintaining supplies, and answering phones and responding to inquiries.

Some Saturday work scheduled

The working duties rotate through one (1) week as scale attendant - one (1) week as slope attendant and one (1) week grounds maintenance.

# Code Essential Functions

1 L Regular and reliable attendance in compliance with given schedules is a mandatory requirement of this position. Schedules may be subject to change with or without advance notice.

2 L Inspects loads and weighs refuse by weighing vehicles in and out, recording weights, assessing and collecting fees, maintaining cash drawers and deposits, running reports, enforcing codes and ordinances, inspecting loads for compliance, inspecting loads for illegal waste, and answering customer inquiries.

3 H Provides slope support by directing traffic, completing forms, removing metal objects and tires from slopes and monitoring loads.

4 M Maintains building and grounds by washing areas, emptying drain covers, sweeping and cleaning areas, completing maintenance and repairs, mowing and weed eating, trimming trees and bushes, sweeping scales, maintaining spill areas, picking up nails and other metals, spreading compost, and hosing down loads.

5 S Assists callers by answering the phone, taking messages, and referring callers to the appropriate department or individual.
