Propeller Design Engineer (CAD)

What you'll do:

  • Create 3D models of aircraft components, to include both metallic and composite structures
  • Generate laminate definitions for composite components
  • Create 2D drawings of structures to support manufacturing and procurement, to include geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Perform tolerance stack-ups of assemblies to ensure fit and performance
  • Generate bill of materials as required for the program and ensure accuracy
  • Release drawings, models, and documentation through configuration management tools
  • Set up program architecture for drawing management and release
  • Ensure any designs comply with company specifications and meet programs requirements
  • Perform design reviews, provide technical input related to propeller systems, and participate in drawing release process
  • Establish and enforce best practices for critical composite aerospace components
  • Support program needs for conceptual design layouts and trade studies

What you need:

  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in design of composite components, including proficiency in surfacing
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret CAD models
  • Knowledge of GD&T and ASME Y14.5 standards
  • Ability to perform tolerance stack-ups
  • Understanding of common aerospace materials and fabrication techniques
  • Familiarity with common aerospace standards (NAS, MS, MIL-STD, AS9100)
  • Experience working with PLM systems (ENOVIA, Teamcenter)

Bonus Qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field
  • 12+ years of experience in design of composite aerospace components
  • Knowledge of design requirements to meet FAA certification for propellers or rotorcraft
  • Proficiency in CAD packages specific to composites (FiberSIM, CATIA Composite Design)
  • Knowledge of common manufacturing methods for composite structures

This position will require travel up to 15% to Archer facilities or supplier facilities.

Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
