As a Mechanical Technician, you will support Engineering teams to build prototype parts and equipment.

What Youll Do:

  • Fabricate and assembles parts, mechanisms, and machines for developmental purposes, such as solving problems relative to materials, tooling/fixturing, product specifications, and fabrication methods.
  • Discusses product information, such as design, capacity and purpose, and types of material to be used to fabricate product, with engineer and other personnel.
  • Assesses written Engineering specifications, drawings, geometric tolerances, and verbal instructions to fabricate and inspect parts.
  • Operate shop equipment including CNC sheet metal brakes, welding equipment, and other shop-related equipment.
  • Ability to write reports and present progress updates at project meetings.
  • May establish work procedures for fabricating new structural products, using variety of metalworking machines.
  • Keep the machine and surrounding area clean at all times.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

What Youll Bring:

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus 2-year degree or trade school certificate required.
  • 5+ years of experience with a strong background in metal fabrication tools, and equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to use basic hand tools.
  • Experience cutting and forming sheet metal per engineering prints.
  • Willingness to learn new processes and tools.
  • CNC Programming, setup, and operation experience?for CNC brake presses and welding equipment.
  • MIG/TIG welding experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to be trained to operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, overhead cranes, motorized pallet jacks, or manual pallet jacks.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manual.
  • Preferred qualifications:
  • Laser welding experience
  • Machine maintenance experience,
  • Lean Manufacturing / 6 Sigma training
  • 5S training
  • CAM programming
