Site Safety Health Officer (SSHO)
The ideal candidate will be familiar with EM 385-1-1, comfortable overseeing the safety operations of a construction site, capable of managing/coordinating with subcontractors, have experience as a Site Safety Health Officer (SSHO) and be located near Fort Polk, LA or willing to relocate to it for the duration of this project. They should be able to determine and address any risk areas to maintain an on-time project, and the safety of workers. This candidate should have experience in developing Accident Prevention Plans, conducting Activity Hazard Analysis, and safety on large construction projects.
Location/Area: Fort Polk, LA
Project duration is expected to be 20 months.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and oversee daily safety operations
Development, implementation, oversight, and enforcement of the Accident Prevention Plan
Prepare, review and enforce Activity Hazard Analysis reports
Ensure safety, compliance and quality regulations are followed
Communicate project progress with clients and project managers
Manage subcontractors and construction site organization related to safety
Facilitate safety meetings
Daily safety reports
Qualifications
5+ years of construction safety experience within the last 10 years
2+ years as a SSHO
Strong communications skills
OSHA 30 certification
EM 385-1-1 training
Experience supporting federal construction contracts strongly preferred
Experience working with the US Army Corps of Engineers preferred
Familiarity with regulatory construction standards
