Major Function:

Are you passionate about safety, electrical systems, and making a difference in your community? As an Electrical Inspector, you'll play a vital role in ensuring construction projects meet essential codes and standards, protecting both people and property. What You'll Do:

  • Review construction plans and blueprints to ensure designs align with current electrical codes and safety standards before work begins.
  • Conduct thorough on-site inspections to verify that all installations meet approved drawings and code requirements.
  • Take immediate action on violations, issuing verbal directives or "Stop Work" orders when necessary, and keep your supervisor informed.
  • Document daily inspections using inspection software to maintain clear, accurate, and up-to-date records.
  • Support enforcement efforts by assisting in the prosecution of code violators who fail to correct issues, helping uphold community safety.
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports outlining findings, recommendations, and next steps for contractors and project teams.

Minimum Training & Experience

  • Possession of a high school diploma or GED

AND

  • Six years of experience in the electrical trade; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. One year of the required experience shall be in residential and commercial electrical installation as a journeyman

Necessary Special Requirements

  • Must possess a valid Class-E State driver's license at the time of appointment.
  • Must possess, at the time of appointment, a Standard Commercial and Residential Electrical Inspector license issued by the State of Florida
  • Must meet the eligibility requirements to obtain a Provisional Commercial and Residential Electrical Inspector license issued by the State of Florida. NOTE: Individuals hired under the provisional license option must obtain the Standard Commercial and Residential Electrical Inspector license issued by the State of Florida within one year of appointment, as a condition of continued employment.

Salary Range

$20.8354 to $56.5383/hourly. Hiring rate generally will not exceed $33.6705/hour
