Job Summary
Leads teams consisting of other trades employees, CSU employees, and outside vendors and contractors to complete work assignments. Manages individual projects and budgets including providing cost estimations, obtaining vendor quotes, and ordering materials, equipment, and services. Serves as lead worker requiring specific experience to complete advanced skilled and routine construction and maintenance projects. Performs advanced and routine repairs, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting on trade systems, equipment, and their components while guiding, training and mentoring assigned employees. Communicates project progress, issues, and concerns to project manager or supervisor. Assists in development of Facility Services maintenance program. Plans, schedules and maintains records of preventive maintenance. Performs preventative maintenance. Maintains databases and management systems of inventory and maintenance activities. Ensures cleanliness and organization of work areas. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED or state recognized equivalent.
- Completion of an accredited HVAC certificate or apprenticeship HVAC program.
- Asbestos Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Certification, Confined Space Certification, and Fall Protection Certification or ability to obtain certifications within one (1) year of hire.
- EPA Section 608 Technician Certification - Universal.
- Four (4) years of HVAC experience from an industrial contractor or an institutional complex.
- Experience with building automation systems (BAS) and energy management systems (EMS).
- Leadership experience.
- Experience building and following a budget, cost estimating and ordering supplies.
- Ability to lift and carry fifty (50) pounds. If lifting is over fifty (50) pounds, ability to buddy lift or use of tools to aid in lifting.
- Ability to climb and work from ladders, scaffolding, catwalks, and various arial lifts in excess of twenty-five (25) feet.
- Valid driver's license and ability to establish and maintain driver eligibility under CSU Driving and Motor Vehicle Policy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Verifiable completion of training courses in International Mechanical Code (IMC), HVAC and refrigerant safety, installation, repair and maintenance i.e. OSHA Safety.
- Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) or other workplace safety certifications.
- State of Ohio HVAC, Hydronics or Refrigeration Contractor's License, State of Ohio Boiler Operator or Stationary Steam Engineer License, or state-recognized equivalent.
- Maintenance, repair and electrical experience in an institutional, industrial, or manufacturing environment.
