Job Description
As an Electrical Design Engineer, you will be responsible for producing electric distribution field designs, staking of distribution facilities, project estimation, and preparing construction prints using electronic design and estimation software. You will perform distribution line design calculations for structure loading, guying, geometric angle calculations, conductor sag interpretation, unitized framing design, construction practices, and adhere to construction safety guidelines using industry tools and methods. Additionally, you will assist the Right of Way group to secure easements, right of entry requests, and permitting on an as-needed basis. This role involves recognizing electric distribution framing and components from 4kV through 35kV to initiate designs for construction or reconstruction of both overhead and underground distribution systems.
Responsibilities
- Produce electric distribution field designs and stake distribution facilities.
- Prepare project estimations and construction prints in accordance with standards.
- Perform distribution line design calculations for various structural aspects.
- Assist Right of Way group with easements, right of entry requests, and permitting.
- Recognize and initiate designs for electric distribution framing and components.
- Design for both overhead and underground distribution systems.
Essential Skills
- 5-10 years of experience in Energy, Power, and Utility Distribution.
- Electrical design experience of at least 5 years.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, Revit, and GIS.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with production electric distribution field designs.
- Ability to handle heavy workloads with minimal training required.
- Familiarity with procedures for permit acquisition.
- Knowledge of property line boundary, topographic surveys, as-built surveys, construction staking, ROW staking, and collection of geospatial points.
Work Environment
This position involves local remote work from home with occasional onsite visits as needed. Preference is for candidates local to the area. New technology will be delivered to your home to facilitate remote work.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $65.00/hr.
