The Document Control Manager Construction is responsible for managing all project documentation across multiple construction sites, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely distribution. This role plays a critical part in supporting project delivery by maintaining control over project documents, certifications, and other key documents. The Document Control Manager ensures that all stakeholders have access to the latest project information and that documentation meets regulatory and contractual requirements. This role will require travel.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement document control procedures specific to construction projects.
  • Manage the flow of construction documents including drawings, blueprints, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and meeting minutes.
  • Ensure timely distribution and retrieval of documents to/from contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and clients.
  • Maintain version control and ensure only current documents are in circulation.
  • Oversee the use of construction document management platforms (e.g., Procore, Aconex, Autodesk Construction Cloud).
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and site teams to ensure documentation needs are met.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with project and regulatory standards.
  • Train project staff and subcontractors on document control systems and protocols.
  • Archive project documentation in accordance with company and legal retention policies.
  • Lead a team of document control specialists and assign responsibilities across projects.

  • 5+ years of experience in document control within the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in construction document management systems (e.g., Procore, Aconex, Bluebeam, SharePoint).
  • Strong understanding of construction workflows, project lifecycles, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and quality.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma
  • 5+ years of experience in document control within the construction industry.
  • Proficiency in construction document management systems (e.g., Procore, Aconex, Bluebeam, SharePoint).
  • Strong understanding of construction workflows, project lifecycles, and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and quality.
Work Environment/Physical Demands

Physical Demands:
Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Stand, Kneel, Bend, Stoop, Move, and Walk long distances in and around confined, cluttered places, and uneven areas.
See and hear naturally or with correction.
Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with requirements of the job duties.
Requires using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls according to a set procedure.
Requires repetitive movement.
May require work above 5 feet in height.
Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.
Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.

Typical construction site environment:
Requires working in cramped work spaces and getting into awkward positions.
Requires working in very hot (above 90 F degrees) or very cold (below 32F degrees) temperatures and exposure to inclement weather such as dust, wind, snow, rain, etc.
Requires working in extremely bright or low lighting conditions
Includes exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable.
Work around hazardous equipment.
Typical office environment. Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance and work assignments.
