- Organizes, supervises, leads, and trains crew members and foremen to complete projects within established guidelines and time frames.
- Maintains a 4-week labor look ahead schedule for field crew scheduling purposes. Keeps records of all work completed, document and record time, equipment, and materials.
- Orders, maintains, and operates or supervises equipment and machines used on projects. Facilitates loading and unloading of building materials to be used in the projects. Follows construction plans, instructions, and schedules from supervisors and completes assigned tasks.
- Develops project leadership and management skills for moderate volumes of conventional steel and smaller finish projects (in complexity, number, or overall dollar amount) from estimate, bid, and design through closeout, using best practices from experienced team members.
- Manages complex relationships (owner/client, architect, subcontractors, consultants, superintendents, etc.) with the support of supervisor.
- Communicates and collaborates with field and office operations leaders (Vice Presidents, Managers, Supervisors, Coordinators and Directors), and key stakeholders.
- Manages client expectations, in coordination with project management and project superintendent team, to generate repeat work and manage client relationships.
- Ensures team members are held accountable to safety logistics, means, and methods in all practices. Ensures new employees are familiar with WBG safety procedures and training to ensure they understand the job.
- Ensures daily huddles are taking place by each foreman. Assigns toolbox talk topics to Foreman and ensures a Toolbox Talk is given once a week.
- Identifies employee absenteeism, policy violations and performance/behavioral concerns and notifies employee, supervisor, and human resources immediately.
- Maintains an accurate and up-to-date budget for each assigned project.
- Completes project financial tasks in a timely fashion, such as owner/client and trade partner change orders, budget updates, project dashboards, owner/client/bank draw requests, invoice approvals and others as may be required on a project-by-project basis.
- Completes project health dashboard (including schedule control, contract details, subcontractor status, and cost summary) on each project and reviews with supervisor at least monthly.
- Submits change orders with cost breakdown and appropriate backup information to Owners/Architects/General Contractor for authorized signatures before proceeding with implementation of the change in work.
- Coordinates with jobsite Superintendent any changes to the scope of work.
- Identifies and resolves design, construction, and safety issues as they arise or as are provided by jobsite superintendent, architect, or client.
- Regular, predictable, and reliable attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
- Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience leading construction crews as a foreman or Superintendent, particularly managing iron workers for full facet pre-engineered metal buildings.
- Must have a valid Drivers License.
- The following trainings are required (and provided by Wolverine):
- OSHA 30-Hour certified
- First Aid and CPR
- Heavy machine operator card, rigging awareness, asbestos awareness, and aerial work platform operator training
- Welding through G4
- Power actuated tools
