First Shift: 6:00 am 2:30 pm
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

OVERVIEW:

The Welder will weld, cut, and braze metal pieces and products by using flame-cutting and hand
welding equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Required to complete AWS certification 3G test using (FCAW) Flux Core Mig
Welding. 1/8 to unlimited thickness.
Must be able to read blueprints using GIT tolerances and AWS weld symbols.
Must be able to operate overhead cranes using proper rigging techniques, forklifts and
drill presses of all types.
Have general understanding of AWS requirements for weld sizes, multiply passes, pre-
heating, inner pass temperatures, partial and full penetration welds.
Must be able to use oxy fuel torches and burn structural members up to 1 thick.
Must have own tools: Welding Hood, Welding Gloves, Framing Square, Torpedo
Level, 25 Tape, Ball Peen Hammer, Center Punch, and Side Cut Style Plyers.
Follow all company safety rules and procedures. Capable of working in a safe and
productive manner.
Capable of lifting 45 pounds in a safe manner.
Work in a safe manner at a high production rate.
Able to level and square parts while tacking into place
Rigging and hoisting with overhead crane
Fix and rewire welding machines (wire rolls weigh 40lbs)
Lift and hold 50lbs and be able to set it down gently
Stand for 8-10 hours
Climb up and down equipment to fit parts or to weld parts sometimes one handed
MIG weld: dual shield flux core (95%) hard wire (5%)
Be able to read and interpret blueprints

QUALIFICATIONS:

Thorough understanding of machines and tools used in welding including designs, uses,
maintenance and repair.
Basic understanding of design techniques, principles, and tools necessary for the precise
production of technical plans, drawings, models and blueprints.
Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in a variety of forms.
Basic understanding of mathematics as related to welding assignments.
Completion of a formal apprenticeship OR successful completion of an in-company, three-year
training program required

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Two or more years of related experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to weld components that are vertical, flat, or overhead.
Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
Must be able to see details at close range.
Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking,
stooping, and carrying materials.
Overtime may be expected

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne
particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
