Job Description The Gas Pipeline Inspector is responsible for ensuring the safety, integrity, and compliance of natural gas pipeline systems through regular inspections, testing, and documentation. This role involves working in the field to monitor construction, maintenance, and operational activities, ensuring adherence to federal, state, and company regulations and standards. Responsibilities
- Conduct routine and emergency inspections of gas pipelines, valves, meters, and related infrastructure.
- Monitor pipeline construction and maintenance activities to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Identify and report potential hazards, leaks, or non-compliance issues.
- Perform pressure testing, corrosion control assessments, and other diagnostic procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, findings, and corrective actions.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and safety teams to resolve issues.
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, PHMSA standards, and company policies.
- Participate in audits, incident investigations, and emergency response drills.
- Use GPS, GIS, and other digital tools to document pipeline locations and inspection data.
- Prior experience in gas pipeline inspection.
- Prior welding inspection.
- Knowledge of federal and state pipeline safety regulations (e.g., CFR 49 Part 192).
- Familiarity with pipeline inspection tools and technologies.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in outdoor and sometimes hazardous environments.
- Valid drivers license and clean driving record.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in pipeline inspection, utility work, or a related field.
- Certifications such as NACE, API, CWI, or OQ (Operator Qualification) are a plus.
