Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor and the Director of Facility Services, the maintenance technician - electrician is responsible for performing electrical, general maintenance and utility tasks of various types to care for and maintain all College buildings and related facilities. The position will need to promptly respond to daily service requests while interacting and communicating with customers and staff in a professional manner.

Typical hours for this position are based on the position posting and vary based on shift. Individual must be willing to work overtime, evenings/weekends, and be available for call-out work and special events. They are also considered part of the weather and emergency staff and may need to respond to emergency issues outside normal times. Serves as part of the on-call rotation.

OUTCOME:
College facilities will be presentable, well maintained and safe for students, staff, faculty and guests.
  • Performs complex work to diagnose defects, install, repair, and maintain piping of all electrical systems and equipment. Maintains wiring, power appliances, light machinery, electrical circuits, electrical motors, generators, and other electrical equipment. Locates and corrects power failures and electrical malfunctions. Makes emergency electrical repairs. Locates and corrects power failures and electrical malfunctions. 40%
  • Keeps abreast of current codes and industry changes within the trade. 5%
  • When responding to work orders or emergencies individual must be able to diagnose and repair problems that may include but not limited to plumbing, carpentry, new construction, refurbishing, repairing furniture and painting. 10%
  • Have basic knowledge of roof and masonry repairs. 5%
  • Completes work orders assigned through the TDX system. Assists in maintaining and entering accurate data into the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) that are related to work status, pertinent details, costs (labor/materials), dates, time, invoices, images, actions performed to correct the issue, etc.5%
  • Maintains communication with main office and supervisor 2%
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, schematics, and diagrams as needed. 2%
  • Follow a preventative maintenance schedule for various operations. Ensures that maintenance requirements for electrical and mechanical systems are initiated for all new equipment and are up to date and correct for existing equipment. 5%
  • Operates and keeps in good working order a variety of equipment including hand and power tools, and related equipment. This includes the campus vehicle that that are assigned to. 5%
  • Coordinates with other team members, as required, to ensure multi-trade projects are completed efficiently and completely. 4%
  • Maintains a professional appearance. 2%
  • Maintains a positive customer service orientation and attitude. 2%
  • Assists within other areas of maintenance and Facility Services. 4%
  • Assists in emergency response events including snow removal operations. 6%
  • Cooperates with other university employees and related contractors to achieve the best possible outcomes. 1%

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid journeyperson electrician license in Pennsylvania or trade program certification.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in electrical.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of equipment, materials, methods, practices, and tools used in the electrical trade
  • Demonstrated knowledge of common hazards and necessary safety precautions
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and ability to apply, local, state, and national electrical codes
  • Ability to analyze electrical systems and controls to determine problems and initiate repairs as directed by supervisor
  • Basic Microsoft Office Suite and Gmail.
  • Must have the ability to follow both verbal and written directions in English; the ability to interact with students, faculty, administration, and staff in a professional and positive manner, as well as the ability to read and understand National Fire Protection Association and OSHA guidelines, such as Material Safety Data Sheets, equipment safety data plates, fuel/chemical flash points, etc.
