Job Description Summary
The Electrical Safety Leader will provide site wide support for electrical safety programs, initiatives, training, and audits. In addition to leading the sites electrical safety programs this position will help support various other safety programs including but not limited to LOTO, Contractor Safety, Machine Guarding, Risk Assessments, PPE, and others. This position will work closely with facilities engineering, test facilities engineering, utilities, and the maintenance organizations to drive implementation of programs to ensure all federal, state, and local EHS regulatory and GE management system requirements are met. The successful candidate must be a proven leader, facilitator, and coach to promote EHS culture and ensure compliance to EHS regulatory requirements with a continuous improvement mindset. This position will act as a part of the broader Evendale EHS organization, which supports 6000+ employees' campus wide, and is a VPP certified as well as Title V EPA site.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
Serve as the site's subject matter expert (SME) in electrical safety, including NFPA 70E, OSHA, and NEC requirements.
Review and update the electrical safety practices and plant standards on an annual basis and as needed. Help develop and execute on electrical safety in prevention through design initiatives.
Conduct Advanced Electrical Safety/NFPA 70E training for qualified individuals. Ability to independently determine electrical safety improvements needed in training program to address safety issues and gaps.
Ensure electrical safety field work audits for site electricians are completed, conduct worker observations, and complete risk assessments to assess compliance and effectiveness. Coach to closure and improvement opportunities identified in such assessments.
Facilitate and review Arc Flash Risk Assessments, PPE requirements, and electrical safe work practices.
Work with the area (management and hourly employees) to make sure that they understand and are following electrical safety requirements provided in the training.
Review and determine proper electrical classification for hazardous areas onsite.
Lead Electrical Safety Committee and support employee involvement with electricians and electrical safety focal.
Support the development, implementation, and auditing of other safety programs, procedures, and training.
Assist with accident and event investigations, determine proper root cause, and implement effective countermeasure to prevent future incidents.
Assist with EHS programs review, implementation, identify gaps, and provide guidance on improvement opportunities.
Ability to work with employees and achieve cultural change in a union environment.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years EHS /electrical experience).
Minimum of 3 years of experience in EHS/electrical with a focus in a manufacturing/industrial environment
