Background Check Information

Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.

JOB SUMMARY

Performs semi-skilled golf course grounds and facility maintenance.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

One (1) year of closely related experience or the equivalent.

A valid Drivers License issued by the State of Utah is required to drive County vehicles.

Experience working at a golf course is preferred.

Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Performs general golf course maintenance such as snow removal, tree and shrub maintenance, cleaning, water hazard and sand trap maintenance, and cup changing procedures.
  • Maintains turf, through grass seeding, sod installation, mowing, aerating, and top dressing and fertilizing greens, tees, roughs, and fairways.
  • Programs, diagnoses, adjusts, and repairs automated irrigation systems, weather stations, and other equipment as needed.
  • Performs appropriate trade work, such as painting, carpentry, electrical, and concrete finishing.
  • Operates a variety of specialized equipment.
  • Compiles, updates, and maintains pertinent records of equipment, tools, and supplies.
  • Routinely monitors existing golf course conditions. Evaluates and tests the playability of the golf course.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA)

Knowledge of:

  • Grass varieties
  • Fertilizer composition
  • Golf course maintenance basics
  • Various types of soil and sand
  • Irrigation systems
  • Testing and diagnostic equipment used for mechanical repairs
  • Golf rules, regulations, and course marking procedures

Skills and Abilities to:

  • Operate equipment
  • Rebuild irrigation components
  • Perform basic welding and fabrication
  • Apply chemicals or materials at the appropriate rate
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Perform tasks independently
  • Effectively supervise and train subordinate employees

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires extensive physical labor: lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects up to 75 pounds, kneeling, bending, stooping, crawling, shoveling, reaching up, over, and down, and sitting for extended periods of time. The work involves exposure to extreme weather conditions, dirt, dust, heat and cold, fumes, and/or loud noises. Work is occasionally performed in confined spaces.
