Summary

Critical position requiring an experienced and detail-oriented landscape architect, to serve as the primary quality control specialist for the urban design of municipal projects. This position ensures that design and construction align with approved plans, specifications, and regulatory standards. Provides leadership in quality assurance for diverse infrastructures and collaborate closely with city staff, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders to uphold the highest standards of functionality, safety, sustainability, and aesthetic quality.

Pay Range: $71,900 - $90,598 (Depending on qualifications and experience)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Review and monitor urban design construction projects to ensure compliance with plans and quality standards involving diverse infrastructures - including trails, playgrounds, open spaces, greenbelt corridors, rights-of-way, sports and recreation facilities, and other park developments.

  • Participate in the review of design documents for technical integrity, compliance with standards and requirements related to functional use, maintenance, safety considerations and aesthetics.

  • Actively lead and participate in meetings, technical reviews, and development application management throughout the construction process.

  • Address construction-related inquiries by examining drawings, specifications, and submittals to provide informed responses.

  • Manage related billing/invoicing and publish detailed weekly reports using cloud-based construction software, to include AutoCAD, Adobe Suite.

  • Prepare and present Planning Reports to Plan Commission, City Council, and other boards as required.

  • Collaborate with departments to review landscape/urban designs and support staff-initiated projects and grants.

  • Develop design concepts by producing graphic presentation drawings.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, or Engineering preferred.

  • 3 years related experience.

  • Licensed Landscape Architect in Texas or obtain within two years of hire.

  • Valid Class C Texas driver's license.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

The incumbent works in both in-office and outdoor environment, with exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards. May be exposed to extremes of heat and cold, rain, humidity, insects, noxious odors, fumes, and physical stress from exertion and lifting. Exposed to physical exertion such as bending, lifting, stooping, reaching, pulling, and pushing. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
