Skilled & Technical Science : Electrician Program Instructor

.6 FTE, Continuing Contract

Wenatchee High School is looking for a skilled and technical science instructor for our Applied Electricity and Basic DC courses. There is a potential for the addition of Wiring Diagrams & Schematics, Intro to PLC's and Digital Electronics courses in the 2026-2027 school year.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Knowledge, ability, and willingness to design curriculum to meet established competencies regarding OSPI-approved Skilled and Technical Sciences Curriculum Frameworks.
  • Collaborate with the departmental team to update curriculum, career pathways, Core Plus Curriculum, State Approved Equivalencies, and Industry Recognized Certificates (IRC's), along with incorporating Work-Based Learning activities in all classes
  • Provide active guidance to students in the Skilled and Technical Pathways, potentially leading them to internship, mentorship, or apprenticeship opportunities in our community.
  • Provide active leadership and direction for the Skilled and Technical Sciences Advisory Committee and the development of the Skilled and Technical Sciences four-year plan
  • Provide active leadership, guidance, supervision, and Advisor teamwork in the SkillsUSA Program.
  • Provide active leadership/follow-through during your rotation as "Go To" Advisor and "Go To" CTSO Advisor.
  • Center instruction on high expectations for student achievement.
  • Demonstrate effective teaching practices.
  • Recognize individual student learning needs and develop strategies to address those needs.
  • Provide a clear and intentional focus on subject matter content and curriculum.
  • Foster and manage a safe, positive learning environment for all students.
  • Use multiple student data elements to modify instruction and improve student learning.
  • Communicate and collaborate with parents and the school community.
  • Exhibit collaborative and collegial practices focused on improving instructional practice and student learning.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining Dual Credit articulation agreement(s) between WVC and other post-secondary partners.
  • Extracurricular coaching/activities assignment outside of CTE will be approved on a case-by-case basis due to additional days and CTE Skills USA extracurricular work that is required of this position.
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality required.
  • KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
  • Possess or qualify for immediate issuance of a valid Washington State teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement(s):
  • Career & Technical Education Certificate in Skilled and Technical Sciences.
  • Willingness to obtain any additional certification required for instruction of courses under the Skilled & Technical umbrella.
  • Applicant must meet NCLB standards as Highly Qualified in core subject areas.
  • Commitment to the education profession as evidenced by participation in curriculum development projects, District or building-level committees, professional organizations, and by evidence of continuing education in the Skilled & Technical Sciences area.
  • Previous teaching experience in Skilled and Technical Education preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to work effectively with peers in a professional learning community (PLC).
  • Ability and willingness to work with both middle and high school age students is essential.
  • Willingness and flexibility to teach courses as assigned within the Skilled and Technical Sciences umbrella of offerings.
