Job Summary:

Overall suspension system design and development. Responsible for validating designs, managing design analysis projects, and providing continuous improvement.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage all technical aspects of a major project and/or multiple smaller projects, utilizing the Product Planning and Development Procedure.
  • Design, validate, and provide test reports and sign-off documents to ensure production readiness.
  • Coordinate with CAD, FEA, and laboratory personnel and interface with other departments.
  • Coordinate the technical design and test aspects on projects with suppliers and customers.
  • Provide continuous improvement through employee development, process improvement, and elimination of waste and assure safety in the lab and office.
  • Drive designs that deliver the best cost effectiveness with reliability proposition to the customer.
  • Work with the Marketing department and SPDD process to define project objectives.
  • Interface with the end user for technical calls and develop actions plans as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain regular attendance.

Education and Training:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Agricultural, Aeronautical, or related engineering field required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Four to six years' experience in vehicle structural design (preferably heavy or medium duty truck) with exposure to dynamic structural analysis, finite element analysis, fatigue analysis, and product design preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage development projects and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated experience/skill in product innovation.
  • Some controls experience a plus.
  • Exposure to or training in vehicle dynamics or vibration and controls background desirable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to lead a cross-functional launch effort.
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Working understanding and knowledge of Computer Aided Design and Analysis tools.
  • G.D. & T. and IATF 16949, ISO 9001 experience preferred.
  • Occasional travel required.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position constantly.
  • Minimal need to move about inside office and plant designated area.
  • Occasional movement of hands, wrists, or fingers such as typing, filing, and writing.

Environmental Conditions:

  • Constantly exposed to office designated area.
  • Minimal exposure to loud noises.
