Hiring Shipfitters** **in Newport News, VA!**

**Pay: $45/hour + $140 per diem (Travelers)**

**NEED TO HAVE STICK WELDING EXPERIENCE** !

**Experience and Qualifications:**

Four years commercial/naval experience as a first class Shipfitter, or equivalent

Metal fabrication, structural fitting

Tack welding, stick welding, burning, carbon arc gouging, torches.

**Additional Skills:**

Single Pass Tack Welding

Burning-Oxygen/Propane Burning Torch

Heating-Oxygen/Propane Heating Torch

Ability to comprehend complex drawings and blueprints.

**Shipfitter/Weld Test**

Shipfitter/Weld Test

Using the Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) Process.

With MIL-10718-M (A-5A) Filler Metal of MIL-E-22200/1.

In both the Vertical Up (3F) and Overhead (4F) positions.

It will be on a 3/8inch with 3 stringers on a 12-inch plate. You will be using a 10718 T-Joint

Root Pass and 2 Cap Passes (one in; two out)

**Burn Test:**

The burning test is a manual torch proficiency test and an automated burning proficiency test.Essentially you will have to cut out some shapes from steel using a hand torch.You will cut a plate 6 inches wide and use a propane oxygen/manual cutting torch. You will also need to show that you know how to set up an automated burning machine or track torch.

**Pay and Benefits**

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $45.00/hr.
