Job Description
Turner & Townsend is seeking an experienced Senior Cost Manager and/or Quantity Surveyor with a strong focus on Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems to join our team supporting large-scale, mission-critical data center developments. This role will serve as the key day-to-day client interface, ensuring objectives are met through the delivery of a value-added cost management service.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in a client-facing role. You will provide leadership and direction while promoting Turner & Townsend's purpose, values, and vision.
Regular on-site visits required approximately 35 miles south of Atlanta.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and present detailed cost estimates and cost plans for MEP systems across all project phases.
- Estimate and negotiate change orders, reconcile data, and ensure accuracy in contractor submissions.
- Perform quantity surveying, cost controls, and change management activities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage project budgets, track financial performance, and analyze pricing and cost impacts.
- Prepare funding data presentations and monthly cost reports for stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate cost validation and auditing processes.
- Review contractor and subcontractor pricing and lead negotiations to ensure fair contract pricing.
- Coordinate cost information from suppliers, subcontractors, and design teams.
- Support value engineering exercises and design optioneering.
- Identify and manage cost risks and contingency tracking.
- Produce executive summaries and written commentary on contractor submissions.
- Compile as-built cost estimate records for benchmarking purposes.
- Mentor junior team members and promote a collaborative, one-business culture.
- Display excellence in service delivery and uphold internal business management system
Project/Program specifications:
- Multi-billion dollar data center campus featuring multiple buildings.
- Extensive MEP system integration within large-scale construction projects.
- Experience in data center, mission critical, battery, semiconductor, or large industrial projects is strongly preferred.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, quantity surveying, engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in cost management within the construction industry.
- Experience in data center construction is strongly preferred, or similar experience in major battery/semiconductor projects and/or large industrial projects.
- Proven experience managing MEP systems in large-scale projects.
- Construction consultancy experience is strongly preferred.
- Progress toward RICS accreditation is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of procurement routes, value management, and engineering principles.
- Proficiency in cost estimation software and excellent communication skills.
