We are looking for a Carpenter, Corrections at Public Works! This classification is responsible for performing skilled carpentry work related to the construction, maintenance, and repair of County buildings, structures, and facilities under the Public Works Department. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Supervises a crew of inmates assigned to construction and maintenance tasks; provides instruction on proper carpentry techniques and enforces safety and security protocols. Monitors inmate work activities to maintain compliance with correctional facility rules and ensure a secure working environment. Conducts routine maintenance of carpentry tools and equipment; identifies and reports faulty or unsafe equipment for repair or replacement. Maintains accurate inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies; initiates requests and procures new or replacement materials as needed. Obtains price quotes and vendor bids; prepares cost estimates for carpentry and construction projects, including materials and labor. Reads and interprets blueprints, diagrams, sketches, and architectural drawings to carry out assigned work. Constructs and installs concrete forms; places embedded items and pours, levels, and finishes concrete. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of experience in carpentry and general construction, or a related field; Or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Correctional Officer Certification within one (1) year of hire.
