Machine Builder
Location: Holland, MI
Pay: $25-30/hour
Long term contract to hire
Role Overview
As a Machine Builder, you are responsible for the mechanical assembly of equipment, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency in all work performed. This role is hands-on and requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, effective communication, and a strong team player attitude.
Key Responsibilities
- Assembly of equipment per mechanical drawings using your own hand tools
- Proficiently read and interpret part and assembly drawings
- Demonstrate proven mechanical aptitude with a focus on safety and quality
- Accept direction and complete tasks assigned, working as part of a team or individually
- Maintain a steady work pace with frequent bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, and accessing areas on and beneath machinery
- Safely lift up to 50 lbs. as required
- Obtain and maintain certifications, including:
- Hi-Lo (Fork Lift) license
- Aerial Platform license
- Overhead Crane license
- Lock Out Tag Out training (to be obtained while employed at JR Automation)
- Provide and maintain your own hand tools and toolbox suitable for the job
- Ensure all changes and problems are promptly documented and communicated
- Carry out assigned tasks with minimal direct supervision
- Execute and uphold ISO and Quality standards in daily work
- Communicate regularly with the Machine Build Lead regarding open issues and build progress
- Successfully execute assigned programs relating to cost, quality, timing, and customer satisfaction
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of your assigned work area at all times
- Coordinate pick-up and delivery of secondary processes (material finish, heat treat, deburring)
- Assist the lead builder in maintaining and coordinating project task lists, machine safety, machine quality, and driving projects to completion within established timelines
- Effectively and safely operate the following equipment:
- Mill
- Lathe
- Drill Press
- Surface Grinder
- Saws
- Shears
- Presses
Qualifications
- Proficiency in reading and applying mechanical and assembly drawings
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with a focus on both safety and quality
- Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team
- Comfortable performing physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting (up to 50 lbs.)
- Willingness to obtain necessary certifications during employment
- Ownership of appropriate hand tools and toolbox for the role
