Starting Wage : $23.82 per hour / $26.42 after successful completion of probationary period
Primary Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot, repair, install and maintain plumbing piping, fixtures, and equipment used in the distribution, drainage, and ventilation of water, water-carried waste, air, gas, and other liquids in accordance with plumbing codes
- Preforms preventative and predictive maintenance on required systems
- Provides emergency/unscheduled and scheduled maintenance repairs of plumbing systems
- Identifies root causes of failures and orders parts for repair
- Provides leadership to student and/or temporary plumbers as assigned
- Work in cooperation with other trades
- Maintains a valid drivers license
- High school diploma or GED
- Demonstrated work history reflecting reliability and dependability
- Possess a current drivers license
- Possess City of Cape Girardeau Plumbers license or obtain the City Plumbers license within six months of hire
- Possess a Backflow License or obtain within one year of hire
- Ability to work in inclement weather and live within 30 minutes travel time from the University
- Progressive work experience in plumbing in an educational, commercial or industrial setting
- Proficient knowledge of pipe materials, fittings, valves, hangers, supports, fasteners, and piping insulation
- Proficient knowledge of applicable plumbing codes, rules, and regulations (local, state, and federal)
- Work experience in reading blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks and waste and drainage systems
- Work experience in operating and maintaining hand and power tools applicable to the trade
- Ability to perform heavy lifting up to 75 pounds with or without accommodations
- Ability to work in close and confined spaces for extended periods of time with or without accommodations
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and perform duties with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of customer service
