Do you have a passion for HVAC systems and wildlife conservation? Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society is looking for a skilled HVAC Technician to join our dedicated. This role is vital to the comfort and safety of our guests, staff, and animal residents across our 23-acre zoo campus.

Were seeking a candidate with strong HVAC experience who is ready to help maintain, install, and repair essential systems in a one-of-a-kind work environment.

Position Summary

The HVAC Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems (HVAC/R) throughout the Zoo. This role is vital to maintaining optimal climate conditions for both animal habitats and guest/employee facilities.

Essential Functions
  • Maintain, repair, and install HVAC systems including air conditioning, refrigeration, pumps, and heating systems.

  • Perform preventive maintenance to ensure maximum performance and reliability.

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose HVAC/R issues and operational irregularities.

  • Replace or repair components including compressors, fans, motors, thermostats, sensors, valves, and pumps.

  • Perform emergency repairs as needed.

  • Maintain accurate records through a work order system.

  • Operate Zoo vehicles and equipment as related to HVAC work.

  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and zoo policies.


Requirements
Qualifications
  • Certification: Universal EPA Certification is required.

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of commercial or hospitality HVAC experience.

  • Availability: Able to work weekends, holidays, evenings, and during special events or emergencies.

  • Skills: Strong in troubleshooting, mechanical diagnostics, safety, equipment maintenance, and customer service.

  • Climate Tolerance: Able to work outdoors in varying weather typical of South Florida.

Physical Requirements
  • Lift and carry up to 80 lbs.

  • Work in high humidity and heat typical of South Florida.

  • Frequent use of radios, phones, and computers.

  • Must pass a background check and drug screening.
