Maintenance Worker III- Carpenter

Under general supervision, to perform semi-skilled and skilled maintenance, repair, and construction tasks in the upkeep of Park University facilities; perform semi-skilled and skilled work in one or more of the building and maintenance trades; and to do other related work as may be required. Position Accountabilities
  • Comply with appropriate safety precautions and procedures.

  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions and standard work procedures.

  • Work cooperatively with others.

  • Maintain routine records.

  • Observe legal and defensive driving principles.

  • Practice proper safety practices in the operation of equipment.

  • Maintains daily time sheets and records of work accomplished. Tasks are performed by using a safe and proper manner.

  • All duties performed are done so in a highly professional manner that reflects the Park Universitys core values.

  • Operate the variety of tools and equipment utilized in the performance of duties in multiple trades.

  • Performs skilled carpentry and construction projects, plumbing, electrical, and corrective maintenance repair in the basic trades.

  • Performs installation, maintenance and repair of wooden articles and structures such as shelving, partitions, counters, doors, windows and frames.

  • Constructs frames, covers, and roof structures.


Position Requirements:

Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and skill may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and skill would be:

Experience:

  • Two or more years of journeyman level experience as a worker in one or more of the construction or building trades.

Education:

  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, some college or trade school technical training and maintenance repair.

Condition of Employment:

  • Insurability by the facility's liability insurance carrier.

License Requirement:

  • Possession of a valid Missouri Motor Vehicle Operator's License.

Physical Requirements

The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that this position classification must perform in carrying out essential job functions.

  • Persons performing service in this position classification will exert 75 to 100 pounds of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

  • This type of work may involve ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps, and will involve walking, standing, bending, or stooping for extended periods.

  • Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate equipment and use hand tools, and handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.

  • Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by weather may occasionally be experienced.
