Job Description
This position will work a 14x14, 12-hour continuous shift rotation. If you are a safety conscious team player, self-motivated, autonomous, detail-oriented and possess your Journeyperson Welder and Heavy Equipment Technician certification then you are exactly who we are looking for! Job Description:
Major Job Functions:
- Using the technical expertise in this role to inspect parts for re-usability, dismantle equipment, repair or rebuild components, attachments, etc., based on anticipated potential market demand
- Work with technicians, internal teams, and supervisors to prioritize, plan, and schedule maintenance and equipment repairs.
- Build reports and present information on equipment statuses for various equipment types as required for internal and external customers
- Source replacement parts and liaise with parts team
- Weld using the flux cored arc welding (FCAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), and gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) processes on carbon and stainless steel structural shapes, tubing and piping
- Cut, trim, fit and fabricate weldments to dimensions for building and assembling using standard tools, materials, motions, and practices of the welding trade
- Ensure all service documentation and billing are accurate and properly recorded.
- Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment
Specific Skills & Experience:
- Journeyperson Welder Certification
- Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician Certification
- May consider apprentices who have their Journeyperson ticket in the other discipline
- Minimum of 1 year experience working on Caterpillar equipment
- Basic computer skills such as Microsoft Office suite and report writing skills, knowledge of Finning systems and software programs in considered an asset.
- Detail oriented, ability to multitask, organized, and demonstrates a high sense of urgency.
- Positive attitude, team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Self-starter with the ability to work under minimal supervision and contribute to a safe work environment while troubleshooting and solving problems.
- Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment.
- An entrepreneurial business spirit to work with the mgmt. & sales team to identify and prioritize work that will lead to greater sales and/or profit is an asset in this role.
- Strong desire to be a part of a world-class team focused on achieving amazing results

- This shop position is on a 14x14 day/night shift rotation based out of our Mildred Lake facility
- A condition of employment is the ability to be fit tested and the ability to wear a respirator
- Candidate selection will be in compliance with the terms of the current Collective Agreement
- Please note that any future shift changes that may occur will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement
