Overview
Timken is seeking a motivated Electrical Technician to join our Iron Station manufacturing team in a part-time capacity. This role is specifically designed for students currently enrolled full-time in an accredited Electrical Engineering program, offering hands-on experience that complements classroom learning.
As a part-time technician, you will assist with the maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of automated manufacturing equipment. This is a great opportunity to gain valuable industry experience while continuing your engineering education
Location: Iron Station, NC.
Job Type: Part-Time. No benefits.
Shift: Day shift, Part Time, Max 28 hours.
Starting Pay: $23.50
Who We're Looking For
This role is ideal for students with strong technical aptitude, a passion for solving problems, and interest in manufacturing and automation. You will work alongside experienced electricians and engineers on real-world equipment involving PLCs, HMIs, servo drives, robotics, and CNC machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and assist in the repair of electrical, logic, and electronic equipment to reduce production downtime.
- Support the maintenance team with inspections, adjustments, and preventative maintenance on electrical systems.
- Assist in reading wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Participate in minor programming tasks and modifications related to PLCs and HMIs.
- Help document electrical system changes and contribute to project-related installation work.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, electricians, and maintenance personnel.
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently enrolled full-time in a Bachelor's degree program in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
- Must remain enrolled full-time during employment.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 18 years of age or older.
- Eligible to work in the U.S.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Coursework or prior hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, or electrical troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or 2D electrical drafting software.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, circuit diagrams, and schematics.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Curiosity and willingness to learn in a dynamic, real-world manufacturing environment.
