Slayden Constructors Inc SCI a wholly owned subsidiary of MWH Constructors Inc MWH is seeking qualified candidates for a Civil Estimator based in our Salem office This position will prepare cost estimates at different levels of design for various delivery systems such as Construction Manager General Contractor CMGC Design Build and Hard Bid Projects will consist of wastewater treatment facilities potable water treatment facilities hydro power facilities fisheries pipelines and various water infrastructure ranging from 1 250 million dollars Essential Functions Prepare cost estimates on proposals projects and studies and ensure that the content of the estimate is complete accurate and meets the requirements of the Estimating ManagerAdjust productivities material prices and means methods depending on varying project conditionsReview solicitation documents such as specifications and drawings to identify risks and opportunities related to competitive pricingCoordinate and review the variable estimating factors in each area with Engineering Procurement and OperationsProvide technical advice and assistance to the Estimating Team in the preparation of all levels of estimates ranging in scope and complexityAssist the Estimating Team with an independent assessment of an estimates accuracy upon completion of the estimate and summarization of all detailed man hours material construction and home office costsCoordinate the performance of pricing structure development and application to takeoffs derived quantities quantity assumption and cost allowancesObtain and verify construction quotations for facilitation of construction projects addendas and contract changesObtain and verify subcontractor questions for construction projects and ensures compliance with construction documentsCompile and analyze bidsDevelop reports for all review processesProvide constructability reviews and guidance to the operations team to ensure the preliminary costs of the projectsActively research solicit and develop a network of relationships within the supply chainReview and incorporate historical data from purchase orders subcontractors and productivity analysis reports in order to continuously improve estimating accuracyBasic Qualifications Bachelors degree in Construction Management Engineering or a related field; equivalent combination of construction field experience skills and training may be substitutedMinimum of 5 years of previous experience on heavy construction projects or industrial projectsMinimum of 5 years of estimating experience in heavy civil or water infrastructure constructionStrong understanding of civil construction methods with a focus on treatment facilities pump stations & damsWorking knowledge of construction equipment and techniques drawings and specifications building materials and required standards applicable to discipline desirableProficient in estimating software eg HCSS Sage Estimating Bid2Win and Microsoft ExcelAbility to read and interpret civil structural and mechanical drawings specifications & geotechnical reportsEffective time management skills with the ability to meet strict bid deadlinesMust be proficient in using MS Word and ExcelAbility to interface and communicate effectively with othersPreferred Qualifications 5 years of relevant estimating experience including waterwastewater treatment facilitiesField experienceKnowledge or experience in CMAR Design Build and Hard Bid estimatesExperience working with designers and project managers through all levels of design from conceptual to 100 completeCost control and scheduling exposure is a plusHCSS Heavybid estimating software knowledge is a plusAgtek or Trimble software knowledge is a plusBenefits Group health & welfare benefits including options for medical dental and vision100 company paid benefits including Employee Life Insurance & Accidental Death & Dismemberment AD&D Spouse and Dependent Life & AD&D Short Term Disability STD Long Term Disability LTD after 60 day waiting period for STD & LTD only Employee Assistance Program and Health AdvocateVoluntary benefits at discounted group rates for accident critical illness and hospital indemnityFlexible Time Off Policy includes vacation sick and personal timePaid Parental Leave Program10 Paid Holidays401k Plan company matching contributions up to 4Slayden Constructors is a leader in the civil construction industry in the Pacific Northwest focused on water and wastewater infrastructure Over the last 40 years we have ingrained our reputation with our clients on successful projects bringing positive impacts to local communities Grow your career with a team that is committed to delivering quality projects timely and safely while supporting our guiding principles People Matter Team Unity Solutions Driven and Forward Focused LI AS1 LI ONSITE
