MWH is a leading water and wastewater treatment focused general contractor in the US with a rich history dating back to the 19th century Fueled by the mission of Building a Better World our teams are rapidly growing across the nation As a company committed to our teams well being and growth we offer a supportive work environment opportunities for advancement and the chance to contribute to a mission that shapes the future Your expertise and ambition are valued here The work we do matters The critical systems infrastructure we build changes lives betters communities and improves ecosystems If youre passionate about this we want to hear from you About the Role MWH is currently seeking an Area Manager to support business development operations and administrative activities and take accountability for providing leadership strategy and direction of construction management services work Essential Functions Initiate and maintain liaison with clients to develop relationships and win new workWork with the Southern California Regional Manager and Business Development Manager to develop strategicpositioning plans for entering new markets or for specific projects in the Southern California regionManage financial aspects of the Southern California region CMS group to protect companys bottom linePrepare required documentation to present to appropriate operations manager andor risk committeeDevelop and maintain new project leads and opportunities and coordinate all marketing and business development activities with the Regional Manager and Business Development ManagerCollaborate with the corporate marketingproposal group to develop marketing materials proposals and prepare for interviews on all major pursuits and coordinate work with the Regional Manager and Business Development ManagerLead the development of local desktop projectprogram proposals whether unsolicited or responding to requests for qualifications or requests for proposalsCommunicate with and foster collaborative relationships with other MWH operating units aimed at assuring successful delivery of construction management services to clients and the overall success of CMS groupSuccessfully manage multiple large complex initiatives andor projects simultaneouslyLead complex teams through challenging project assignments and complex client environmentsRecruit and lead the Southern California region construction management staff to work collaboratively with construction general contractors to generate successful construction methodologies systems procedures that lead to optimal outcomes in time cost and quality of built workAccountable for assuring projects are staffed with the appropriate resources and skill sets to achieve project objectives within company profit model; work with Regional Manager to establish and implement a training program in support of all construction management and inspection staff levelsRecruit develop and supervise the work of Construction ManagersResident EngineersInspectors and support staffAssist CMS group in establishing and implementing programproject construction management objectives policies procedures and performance standards within boundaries of company policyConsistently and successfully deploy solutions for key issues as assignedConsistently adhere to and enforce internal company processes and policies such as business safety and contracting rulesWork in a manner to ensure personal safety and that of fellow employees by implementing company health and safety guidelines practices and policiesBasic Qualifications Bachelors degree in engineering civil mechanical or electrical construction management architectural or equivalent degree requiredCCM or PMP required however if a PE then consideration will be given to candidates willing to gain CCM or PMP within twelve monthsSkilled in client services and building winning teamsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong negotiating skillsExcellent interpersonal skills and strong belief in customer serviceAble to handle confidential and time sensitive information with discretionExperienceknowledge of proposalRFP process requiredMust be a team player with a positive attitude and flexibility in an environment of tight deadlines unexpected changes and frequent interruptionsSelf motivated; able to take the initiative anticipate needs work independently and carry projects through to completion with minimal guidancedirectionProficient using project control systems problem solving claims avoidance cost control and quality systemsAble to handle multiple tasks and projects at once;
