Job Description
The Line Design Engineer SR position requires 10+ years of related experience and an accredited bachelor's degree or professional engineer license. Responsible for applying engineering processes, design criteria, and software applications to design and construct high-voltage transmission lines (HVTL). Supports estimate preparation, develops design options, and prepares construction specifications. Provide guidance, oversight, and quality assurance reviews for approved contractors as they develop design solutions, cost estimates, and construction packages for outsourced line design jobs. Job responsibilities include creating a safe work environment by putting safety first, understand the process used for HVTL planning, design, operation, construction, and maintenance, understanding the functions and activities of various internal departments involved in HVTL design, construction, and maintenance, understanding transmission line design practices and work processes, using all software applications used in HVTL design, understanding NESC and Client design standards, supporting design standard and criteria development for the system, supporting construction and maintenance teams during day-to-day operations and during emergency restoration of failed equipment, providing quality assurance reviews for PLSCADD line models and job construction package, estimating material for transmission projects, transmitting construction packages and supporting specifications. Skillsets and expertise required for this position include advanced engineering knowledge, problemsolving skills, significant discretion making independent decisions based on procedure, proficient TLD software knowledge, strong work ethic, positive attitude, and the ability to build effective relationships with plant staff, design engineering staff and/or vendors.
