Welder Fitter Job Description Welder fitter opening on 1st shift (6am to 4:30pm) Monday - Friday and most Saturdays. Lots of employees work 4am to 4pm Monday - Friday to get the weekends off. Flexible schedule for employees. NEED A FITTER This individual is a welder, but is tasked with reading and interpreting blue prints to performing the initial fit up of welded assemblies. They would communicate directly with engineering when required and work with minimum supervision. Proficient use of fork truck, and pendent controlled overhead crane is required. Rigging skills for manipulating work is required. He takes pre-cut steel plates, and builds the assembly which is then passed on to other welders to perform the bulk of the welding. We have several AWS certified welders, but they are not good fitters. This is a strong need for us. Also need Able to read mechanical blueprints, both detail and assembly. Able to use micrometers and precision measuring instruments. Operates overhead cranes to 50T capacity. Operates fork truck and man lift. Manually lift 20-25 pounds on regular basis, up to 50 pounds occasionally Essential Skills Minimum of 5 years experience in blueprint reading Proficiency in 1-inch plate fitting and welding At least 5 years of Flux Core/MIG welding experience A minimum of 5 years of fitting experience Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $46000.00 - $60000.00/yr. 2 weeks PTO, 401k, medical/dental/vision Workplace Type This is a fully onsite position in WATERFORD,MI.
