HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR LM CAPITAL PROJECTS
Heavy Equipment Operator Salary - $26 per hour - $29 per hour Summary: Under the direction of the Foreman, the Heavy Equipment Operator is expected to operate construction equipment such as track loader, dozer, backhoe, excavator, skid-steer loader, dump truck, etc., and perform a wide variety of manual labor duties. Essential Duties & Responsibilities- The Heavy Equipment Operator ensures that all work is carried out in a safe and professional manner
- The Heavy Equipment Operator ensures that all heavy equipment is operated according to industry-wide standards that guarantee optimum use of equipment with minimum wear
- The Heavy Equipment Operator will operate all vehicles and equipment in a safe manner and will comply with all applicable OSHA/MOSHA regulations at all times.
- Must be able to understand and relay written and oral instructions.
- Must be able to use and assist others with the required equipment and power tools efficiently and safely.
- Proficient in operating a wide variety of construction equipment: track loader, dozer, backhoe, excavator, skid-steer loader, screener, dump truck, roller, vibratory plate compactor, brush chipper, stump grinder, cutoff saw, jackhammer, grade box, etc.
- General Construction: able to do excavation and drainage work, able to do rudimentary concrete work. Able to do rudimentary carpentry work and assist with asphalt-related projects.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
- Ability to maintain issued equipment.
- Ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships
- Ability to demonstrate technical proficiency in areas of responsibility.
- The Heavy Equipment Operator makes sure that all equipment under his control and responsibility is properly maintained according to the department maintenance schedule and properly stored at all times when equipment is not in use.
- The Heavy Equipment Operator safely drives heavy dump trucks and trailers to transport a variety of heavy materials and equipment.
- The Heavy Equipment Operator safely operates the bobcat to load, grade, and perform all the tasks for which bobcat attachments are designed
- The Heavy Equipment Operator carries out routine inspection and maintenance of equipment before use, following the applicable safety rules and regulations.
- The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for keeping a record of equipment condition through the use of designated inspection sheets and forms and keeps the foreman informed as to equipment condition and maintenance or repairs needed.
- The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for keeping all receipts (stone, asphalt, etc.) and turning them into the Foreman daily.
- The Heavy Equipment Operator does manual labor such as shoveling, raking, sweeping, etc. as needed.
- Inspect vehicles and fill out appropriate vehicle inspection reports accurately.
- Compliance with all company policies, including all policies relating to absence and punctuality.
- Must be able to work overtime hours in line with project needs.
- Ability to comply with Columbia Association’s driving requirements.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience operating heavy construction equipment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Possession of a valid Class C driver’s license issued by the resident state.
- Ability to comply with Columbia Association’s driving requirements.
- Ability to obtain and maintain DOT Medical Examiner’s Certification.
- As a condition of employment, this position requires a valid Maryland CDL-Restricted A license either prior to hiring or not later than two years in the position. Failure to obtain a valid Maryland CDL-A license no later than two years in the position will result in termination of employment.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and climb without difficulty.
- Ability to work for prolonged periods of time, in adverse weather conditions (i.e.,
- Ability to stand for an entire shift.
- Lifting up to 80 pounds.
- Must be able to work outside under any kind of weather condition.
- Work is performed in a construction site environment under a wide range of weather conditions (extreme cold, heat, rain, snow, humidity, etc.).
- Work environment is routinely dirty, greasy, muddy, and/or dusty.
- Heavy construction equipment routinely places significant physical demands on the operator, including but not limited to noise, vibrations and repetitive motion.
