This position is based on commercial / industrial epoxy floor coatings as well as painting knowledge.
Knowledge of prepping concrete floors for various epoxy / urethane coatings. Ability to operate floor grinding equipment. Knowledge of various floor coatings (epoxy and Urethanes) Know how to mix and apply coatings. Ability and willingness to sometimes work 2nd shift and weekends.
There is a possibility of some commercial / industrial painting as well, but the positioned is based on Epoxy floor coatings.
Job Description
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and toxic or caustic chemicals.
- Responsible for performing tasks as assigned by Department Supervisor.
- Able to complete tasks from start to finish and manage other team members
- Apply paint to multiple substrates and surfaces.
- Responsible for ensuring work area is kept clean and safe.
- Must be able to understand the proper use of paints and solvents to work in an efficient yet effective manner.
- Must be able to work as a team player with other employees throughout LACOSTA.
- Must understand and utilize proper personal protective equipment.
- Must be able to be flexible with varying job assignments and working conditions.
- Responsible for following plant rules as it pertains to each job site.
- May require some travel.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is a plus. If not currently certified will need to be willing to get certification at LACOSTA expense.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of Epoxy Floor Coatings and Prepping methods (Required)
- Painting / Prepping experience (preferred)
- Must be energetic, pleasant & professional
- Strong communication skills
- Understanding of customer service
- Recognize and understand safety signs and building warning systems. Understand safety requirements, understand & meet company handbook expectations.
- Ability to change tasks or assignments outside normal duties.
- Must be comfortable wearing PPE (Hard hat, steel toed shoes, vest, etc.)
- Must be willing to think on your feet and learn as you go.
