Engineered Cooling Services (ECS), the Southeast's leading commercial HVAC service provider, is seeking a Mechanical HVAC Estimator to join our growing Projects and Retrofit division. This role is ideal for a field-experienced professional who can bring practical insight, leadership, and precision to complex estimating opportunities-especially in the retrofit space. We specialize in energy-efficient solutions, large-scale retrofit projects, and exceptional customer service.
Position Overview
As a Mechanical HVAC Estimator, you will play a key role in delivering accurate budgets and estimates for commercial & industrial retrofit projects. This position goes beyond takeoffs and spreadsheets-it requires deep understanding of how systems are built, practical knowledge of the field, and the ability to align closely with sales team members, operations stake holders, and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze documents and site conditions to develop accurate labor and material estimates
- Lead estimating efforts for retrofit and tenant improvement projects in commercial/industrial environments
- Partner with operations, project managers, and sales leaders to ensure accuracy of estimates
- Prepare detailed scopes, vendor and subcontractor RFQs, and final proposals
- Attend site visits, walk-throughs, and pre-construction meetings as needed

Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of mechanical HVAC estimating experience; retrofit experience required
- Prior field leadership experience (superintendent, foreman, lead tech) strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of commercial HVAC systems, retrofit complexities, and constructability
- College degree in construction, engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent field experience considered
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and estimating software (FastEST, QuoteSoft, Bluebeam, or similar)
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
