Position Summary
Guggenheim Investments is seeking a talented financial professional to join our Portfolio Construction Group (PCG) as a Director, Portfolio Construction Analyst. This role will be responsible for developing tailored investment strategies that offer solutions to complex challenges faced by sophisticated clients in both the institutional (insurance, pension, endowment) and retail (mutual fund, SMA) channels. This position will collaborate across cross-functional multiple investment functions, with responsibility to intermediate, aggregate, and disseminate information to credit sector teams, portfolio managers, and senior investment professionals. Success in PCG requires a wide array of talents: industry knowledge, quantitative and technical skills, intellectual curiosity, and effective communication. Our ideal hire is equally comfortable debugging code and communicating strategic recommendations to senior executives.
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions
- Collaborate with colleagues in multiple investment functions including Macroeconomic Research, Sector Research, and Portfolio Management to develop strategic target portfolio asset allocations for insurance clients, other institutional clients and mutual funds
- Assist insurance clients with due diligence work related to acquisitions, including strategic reviews and portfolio restructuring analyses
- Create, develop, maintain, and document complex financial models (including stochastic simulation models) and analytical frameworks that inform investment strategy and portfolio positioning across GPIM's product suite
- Evaluate portfolio performance and interpret portfolio attribution results
- Present analysis at meetings with clients and prospects
- Maintain working knowledge of legal and regulatory frameworks impacting GPIM's clients
- Develop technical expertise to represent PCG, and the front office more broadly, internally on cross-functional topics spanning Risk, Operations, Marketing, Legal, and Compliance
- Research new products and strategies that may be suitable for GPIM's clients.
- Mentor junior-level PCG staff; check and review work of junior-level staff
- Peer reviewer of other mid-level staff
- Reports to the MD of the Portfolio Construction Group
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA and/or CFA
- Prior experience with asset management for insurance companies, other institutional investors and mutual funds
- Expertise in fixed income markets
- Familiarity with regulatory and legal frameworks (e.g. insurance capital frameworks, Solvency II, 40 Act)
- Experience using Blackrock Aladdin suite
- Proficiency with Python and/or SQL
- Experience developing and using stochastic forecast models
- Experience performing and interpreting fixed income performance attribution
- Experience supervising and mentoring junior team members

Basic Qualifications
- BA/BS in a quantitative discipline
- Minimum 10 years of fixed income investment management experience
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and financial modeling ability
- Highly proficient with Excel (including VBA) and Bloomberg
- Fluency with characteristics of assets across the fixed income universe, from Treasuries to OTC derivatives
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
Salary Range
Annual base salary between
$195,000.00-$200,000.00
The base salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated base salary range for this position. Actual base salaries may vary depending on factors such as location and experience. The range listed reflects base salary only, and the total compensation package may include other components such as incentive compensation.
