Job Title Custodial Foreman Department Custodial Services - 40320 Pay Grade 4 Job Category Support Staff Job Summary
Custodial Services is seeking two Custodial Foremans.
The Custodial Foreman supervises custodians who are responsible for cleaning and maintaining the public areas of academic and administrative buildings and medical facilities. Inspects work in accordance with cleaning standards and service requirements. Delivers and directs the use and maintenance of cleaning equipment and supplies. Schedules and assigns duties and conducts training programs for new employees. Coordinates upcoming projects/events that require planning and coordination. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Must be able to work any shift or schedule. Overtime will be required as necessary. Facilities employees may be required to report at their regularly scheduled times during emergency closures or during inclement weather to perform essential functions including snow removal duties.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of principles and methods of supervision.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods and procedures.
- Knowledge of applicable Material Safety Data Sheets.
- Knowledge of the care of and the maintenance of cleaning equipment used in custodial work.
- Have the ability to evaluate situations and make decisions.
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to plan and direct the work of others.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely.
- Ability to train new personnel and coordinate the efforts of a work crew.
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees.
- Ability to perform simple clerical task with computers.
- Coordinates set-ups and cleaning activities for upcoming events.
- Inspects work of other employees.
- Performs yearly evaluations on-line through e-jobs.
- Sit in on new hire interviews.
- Be on call for emergencies such as flooding in buildings, snow removal and blood borne pathogens.
- Ability to use floor care products and equipment.
- Ability to perform light to heavy manual labor.
- General custodial knowledge.
- Employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Two (2) years of custodial experience
- Maintain and possess a valid Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) years of supervisory experience preferred.
