About the Position:
The Parts Manager is responsible for overseeing the procurement, storage, distribution, and inventory management of automotive parts and accessories. This role ensures the right parts are available at the right time to support vehicle service operations and logistical needs, while optimizing cost efficiency and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inventory Management:
- Maintain optimal inventory levels to support service and logistics operations.
- Monitor stock levels, conduct cycle counts, and manage replenishment schedules.
- Oversee the storage, labeling, and organization of parts to ensure quick and accurate access.
- Procurement & Vendor Relations:
- Source and purchase OEM automotive parts.
- Establish clear SOPs for efficient and reliable procurement
- Negotiate pricing, delivery timelines, and terms with vendors and suppliers.
- Evaluate vendor performance and maintain strong professional relationships.
- Logistics Coordination:
- Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments of automotive parts.
- Collaborate with logistics partners and carriers to ensure timely delivery.
- Track shipments, resolve delivery issues, and manage returns or warranty claims.
- Team Leadership:
- Supervise parts clerks, warehouse staff, or drivers involved in parts handling.
- Provide training and guidance on inventory systems and safety protocols.
- Monitor staff performance and enforce company policies and procedures.
- Systems & Reporting:
- Utilize ERP or inventory management systems to track parts movement and cost.
- Generate reports on stock levels, turnover rates, and cost analysis.
- Implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
- Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, including environmental and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation for audits and regulatory reviews.
Qualifications & Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Business, or Automotive Technology preferred.
- Proven experience (3-5+ years) in automotive parts management, logistics, or supply chain.
- Strong knowledge of automotive parts, components, and supply vendors.
- Experience with inventory management software.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Leadership ability with experience managing teams.
- Familiarity with automotive dealership operations or fleet services.
- Understanding of import/export procedures and hazardous materials handling.
- Forklift certification or warehouse management experience is a plus.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- Requires use of required PPE: Safety-toe boots/shoes, safety vest, gloves, hard hat, etc.
- Ability to regularly stand, walk long distances, and talk and hear.
- Ability to frequently use hands and arms to grab, handle, feel, and reach.
- Ability to occasionally sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, or crawl.
- Ability to occasionally climb ladders or stairs.
- Ability to regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- You must wear the required safety PPE, Safety vest, hard hat, gloves, etc.
- Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Working indoors and outdoors.
- Excessive heat or cold, extreme weather conditions, excessive humidity or dampness, or chilling.
- Slippery and uneven walking surfaces.
- Work around machinery with moving parts.
- Work around moving objects, vehicles, and moving machinery/heavy equipment.
