We’re thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Building Engineer at 300 East Seventeenth Apartments - our 411 unit high-rise community in Downtown Denver. This is a chance to step into a high-impact role that’s all about connection, collaboration and culture. This role is responsible for ensuring the performance, safety, and reliability of all building systems while also managing a team of technicians and ensuring timely unit turns and work order completion.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership, Scheduling & Team Management

  • Supervise and lead the onsite maintenance team, fostering a positive, accountable, and safety-driven work environment.
  • Schedule and assign daily tasks, preventative maintenance routines, and work orders for team members.
  • Oversee and track the completion of all work orders and service requests to ensure timely and high-quality resolutions.
  • Manage and schedule make-ready unit turns , ensuring vacant apartments are prepared on time and to standard.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to junior technicians and ensure adherence to company protocols.

Systems Operation & Maintenance

  • Operate, inspect, and maintain HVAC systems, boilers, pumps, compressors, and VFDs.
  • Repair and maintain electrical and plumbing systems including fixtures, panels, outlets, and lighting.
  • Oversee life safety systems including fire suppression, alarms, generators, and emergency backup systems.

Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

  • Lead preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Schedule and document inspections, testing, and repairs using Yardi Maintenance IQ .

Safety & Regulatory Complianc e

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, EPA, and Denver building and life safety codes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including inspection reports, warranties, compliance logs, and work orders.

Vendor Management & Project Support

  • Coordinate with HVAC, elevator, fire safety, and other specialized vendors.
  • Support capital improvement projects and major system upgrades.

Emergency & Resident Response

  • Respond to emergency maintenance calls and participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Provide timely and professional responses to resident work orders and service requests.

Facility Condition & Resident Experience

  • Conduct routine inspections of units, amenities, and building systems to identify and resolve issues proactively.
  • Perform general repairs such as painting, replacing filters, light bulbs, and fixtures.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; trade school or technical degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in building engineering or maintenance, preferably in high-rise multifamily.
  • EPA Universal Certification required; NATE and Fire/Life Safety certifications preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems.
  • Proficient in CMMS software (Yardi preferred), building automation systems, and energy management tools.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Physically able to lift 50+ lbs., climb ladders, and work in tight or mechanical spaces.
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call/emergency response rotation.
