Salary: $54.86 to $76.08 per hour, 5-Step Progression; Bargaining Unit
To monitor, maintain, and restore the electric distribution system, serving our load bearing customers, on a rotating 24-hour/7 day a week basis. Evaluates and analyzes electric emergencies and trouble, prioritizes sequence of work and dispatches appropriate field personnel. Prepares, reviews, and directs electric switching procedures, Hot-Line-Holds, clearances and shutdowns in accordance with safe operating procedures during scheduled maintenance and emergency restoration. Analyzes computer, field, and customer information during outages and assists and directs field personnel in the restoration of service utilizing the EOP procedures as required. Understands electric distribution automation including Fault Detection, Isolation and Restoration (FDIR) and operates the Distribution Management System controlling operational field devices. Communicates electric outage status information frequently with appropriate internal personnel and external entities. Updates records of outage information necessary to track work completed by field personnel. Understands the operation of both the distribution and transmission electric systems. Must works effectively in a team environment.
As this position is instrumental in the safe operation of Avista’s electric distribution system, it is critical that individuals in this classification maintain the highest level of attention to safety, for the customers we serve and our fellow employees.
RequirementsHave knowledge and understanding of coordinated fusing, protective relaying, hotline hold, and clearances.
Ability to work rotating shifts.
Ability to learn a variety of technology platforms to support distribution operations. Basic computer knowledge and skills required (e.g. – Microsoft Office Suite).
Ability to effectively listen and communicate in both written and verbal format.
Journeyman or three (3) years electric operations experience related to construction or engineering.
Other combinations of experience and/or education maybe considered.
This position has a residency requirement to their primary headquarters of 45-minute average travel time as specified in the CBA.
