Job Description: Responsibilities: Complete work orders and other reactive duties pertaining to (but not limited to) the campus domestic hot/cold water system, sanitary sewer system, storm water system. Perform and/or schedule routine preventative maintenance tasks pertaining to (but not limited to) the campus domestic hot/cold water system, sanitary sewer system, storm water system. Operate all hand and power tools/equipment used in the plumbing and mechanical trades. Assist in trouble shooting, problem solving and determining solutions pertaining to plumbing, mechanical or other Facilities' issues. Review prints and/or drawings on a regular basis. Support project management with planning, construction and start up as requested. Support other Facilities Services shops as requested. Follow all applicable safety and compliance protocol. Work with the insurance and state inspectors to maintain, comply and amend current deices/systems pertaining to (but not limited to) the campus domestic hot/cold water system, sanitary sewer system, storm water system. Assist in managing appropriate inventory of stockroom plumbing supplies. Participate in the annual performance reviews as required by HR and your Supervisor. Perform on-call and after hour duties as required by your supervisor (required to carry personal cell phone 24-7 as means of after hour contact - exceptions to be approved by your supervisor). Communicate clearly and work closely with campus partners on a daily basis. Pursue professional development to keep pace with trade/technology advancements and learn best practices. Work with Work Day (HR and accounting/payroll) and Asset Essentials (work order system). Perform other duties as assigned. Relationships: Continuous contact with members of your own shop and your Supervisor to plan, trouble shoot/problem solving, and discussion of goals. Responsibility for Final Decisions: Responsible for one's own work - determine if equipment needs repaired, replaced or renovated. Responsible for researching the availability and cost of parts or system replacement. Determines if repair can be completed in-house or if an outside contractor is needed, (may consult Supervisor if needed). Determine the appropriate option when tasks involve multiple procedures with interrelated processes or steps. Regardless of who performs the repair or replacement, you are responsible for assuring the work performed is completed and meets Furman University standards.
