The primary role of an electrician for the coop is to help install and maintain the lighting system at Tyndall Air Force base, install H2O plus devices, and help line technicians as needed. Electricians core job functions include but are not limited to: Performs construction and maintenance duties on electric distribution systems if needed. Identify all necessary materials necessary for work in the construction and maintenance of electric distribution system. Understand new construction jobs and specifications required for each construction job. Perform any groundwork as required or directed. Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components. Test electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devise, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system. Inspect electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes. Proactively identify safety issues in member property, among crew members, in equipment or in the system. Operates specialized shop and field equipment and machinery. Inspect equipment or monitor operating conditions, meters and gauges to determine functionality. Visually inspects environment for clues that could lead to the discovery of ruptured pipes or any other damaged component of the water distribution system and report them to immediate supervisors for repair. Daily inspection, service and maintenance of vehicles and equipment. Performs maintenance and repair on tools, parts and other equipment as needed. Assists Line Technicians with: Right-of-Way construction/maintenance. New pole construction/pole removal. Transformer repair and replacement. Replacing and maintaining electric lines, structures and equipment. Operates vehicles, equipment and performs ground work on the electrical system. Demonstrates safe work practices and procedures as determined by GCEC, National Electric Safety Code and/or OSHA. Advises Supervisor of Operations and/or Foremen of maintenance needs or other concerns. Perform related duties as assigned, including on-call duty, emergency outages and after-hours work in all weather conditions. Responds to outages to assist line crews. Performs all routine line work, underground and overhead construction, line maintenance and electrical services on primary secondary and three-phase lines. Installs and removes meters, transformers and other line equipment.
