Georgia-Pacific is seeking a skilled Mobile Equipment Mechanic to join our team at GP Rivergate in Portland, OR. In this role, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all electric and LP-powered rolling stock and forklifts. You will perform scheduled preventive maintenance and repairs to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently within our warehousing environment. The fleet includes forklifts, mobile carts, over-the-road vehicles, and automated guided vehicles (AGVs).

In this role you will work four 10 hour shifts on our dayshift . This role is part of the collective bargaining agreement and the starting pay is set at $38.30 per hour.
What You Will Do
- Conduct periodic preventive maintenance on electric and LP-powered forklifts, mobile carts, over-the-road vehicles, AGVs, and other rolling stock according to scheduled maintenance requirements
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems on mobile equipment including forklifts, front-end loaders, skid steers, manlifts, and other small engine equipment
- Record work performed using work order systems and maintain accurate logbooks
- Coordinate procurement and inventory management of parts needed for repairs
- Work independently and as part of a team to ensure equipment availability and safety
- Follow company safety policies and procedures including lock-out/tag-out protocols and use of required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to a zero-incident safety culture
- Work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- One (1) or more years of experience as a heavy equipment or mobile equipment mechanic
- Experience reading and interpreting electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics
- Experience diagnosing and rebuilding powertrain components including engines, transmissions, and final drives
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Valid Oregon Drivers License (ODL) required
What Will Put You Ahead
- Experience working with PLCs and electrical troubleshooting
- Experience with root cause analysis techniques
- Experience troubleshooting hydraulic systems
- Experience applying safe electrical work practices (e.g., NFPA 70-E)
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems such as SAP
- Experience providing maintenance support across multiple locations
- Technical or trade school education in mechanical or electrical technology
