Summary The Sales Development Manager is a professional sales executive who understands the art and science of selling who can drive business to meet and exceed sales targets. Need to be able to drive strategy and forge a path forward into new growth areas. Ideal candidates will have an entrepreneurial mindset to identify and target new growth areas and then facilitate the close of that business. Responsible for the sale of BDM PS products across all platforms (PFS, ADDS, and Services) to pharmaceutical or medical device accounts, developing new business relationships through his /her territory.
This position is reporting to the Vice President of Sales Territory Accounts North America. As part of BD Pharmaceutical Systems Business Development Team, the Business Development Manager will drive strategy to accelerate adoption and commercialization of BD products and services. In tandem with the BD Pharmaceutical Systems Sales organization, he/she will establish strong working relationships with customers and serve as a go-to-partner in providing consultative support and enabling new customer-centric solutions. Territory will cover Cambridge/Boston area. 4 days a week in the field.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Make BDPS the first and only Drug Container Device Company that a customer engages with in their Drug Delivery Journey.

  • Develops strong relationships with key opinion leaders/companies as relevant to support of the business strateg

  • Grows and drives the pipeline by prospecting, identifying, and evaluating new opportunities

  • Keeps abreast of and anticipates major industry trends, scientific developments and future customer needs to drive critical business decisions and differentiate BD from competition

  • Build, develop, enhance, protect BDPS relationships with Regional CMOs- expand reach and go to market strategy

  • Partner with other Business Development Functions to learn and apply best in class methodology in the field

  • In tandem with Business Development Leader, evaluate the way new customers are on boarded and make suggestions to enhance this process

  • Maintain and control expenses in line with company guidelines and annual budget

  • Utilize Salesforce.com as the system of record for information related to account capture and track new business development activities

  • Any other activities that the Business Development Leader needs support on in terms of special projects that enhance the BDPS customer buying experience

  • Travel up to 20%, but will primarily be based in the Boston/Cambridge MA Area.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • BS/BA in Business Management, Engineering or Physical Sciences preferred.

  • 3-5 years of sales experience within medical / pharmaceutical industry required

  • 5+ years of technical experience or experience with pharmaceutical packaging required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong presentation, customer facing, listening, and collaboration /negotiation skills

  • Ability to liaise with various functions in customer accounts (general management, R&D, manufacturing, purchasing, QA/QC, marketing) on management level

  • Strong commercial intuition, chasing, leading, and closing new business
