Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team and contribute to large-scale or complex industrial projects. This role requires overseeing and reviewing mechanical designs, calculations, and deliverable packages for accuracy, completeness, and compliance. You will perform and guide HVAC system sizing, plumbing system design and engineering, pump sizing, pipe stress analysis, and piping specification creation, ensuring adherence to applicable codes and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and review mechanical designs, calculations, and deliverable packages for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Perform and guide HVAC system sizing, plumbing system design and engineering, pump sizing, pipe stress analysis, and piping specification creation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, including B31.1, B31.3, plumbing codes, and other industry standards.
  • Develop and maintain mechanical engineering standards, templates, and best practices.
  • Assign and coordinate tasks among mechanical engineers and designers to meet project deadlines and quality requirements.
  • Serve as the primary technical contact for clients on mechanical engineering matters.
  • Lead design reviews, present technical solutions, and resolve complex design challenges.
  • Manage project budgets, hours usage, and resource allocation for mechanical scopes.
  • Assist in estimating projects, including scope definition, man-hour projections, and cost evaluations.
  • Provide technical mentorship and training to Mechanical Engineer I and II staff.
  • Integrate point cloud data into mechanical designs and ensure accurate field-to-model coordination.
  • Conduct site visits for field measurements, existing condition verification, and construction support.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other discipline leads to ensure integrated project delivery.
Essential Skills
  • Expertise in HVAC system sizing, plumbing design and engineering, pump sizing, pipe stress analysis, and piping specification development.
  • Strong knowledge of B31.1, B31.3, applicable plumbing codes, and other mechanical standards.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Plant 3D, Revit, or similar CAD/design software.
  • Ability to lead and mentor engineering teams.
  • Strong client-facing, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated success in managing budgets, schedules, and resource allocation for engineering scopes.
  • Ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously and deliver high-quality results.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required .
  • 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience in industrial or plant environments.
Work Environment

The position is onsite with a flexible schedule and requires some travel to project sites. Our team offers a smaller company environment with significant opportunities for taking on more responsibility and development. You will have autonomy over your projects and work on notable projects such as VA Hospital Louisville, META data center, and plumbing and piping upgrades to educational facilities.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr.
